Antifreeze Green
£10.97
Green antifreeze typically contains ethylene glycol (40–95%) as the main ingredient to prevent freezing and overheating. In premixed versions, water makes up about 40–60% to help with heat transfer. Diethylene glycol (1–5%) may be added to adjust the fluid’s thickness and freezing point. To protect engine metals from rust and corrosion, small amounts of inorganic corrosion inhibitors are included, such as sodium nitrite, borate, silicate, and phosphate (each usually under 5%). These additives help protect aluminum, iron, and other metals inside the cooling system. A green dye, usually disodium fluorescein, is added to give the coolant its distinctive colour and make it easier to spot leaks. Green antifreeze is often referred to as IAT (Inorganic Additive Technology) and is common in older vehicles. It’s important to note that this type of antifreeze is toxic if ingested and should always be handled with care and stored away from pets and children.
